Burglars break into home with pick-axe

MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for two criminals caught by surveillance cameras burglarizing a South Florida home.

The crime happened Monday in the area of Pinecrest Drive and La Villa Drive. The duo cased the home and used a pick-axe to smash a backdoor window. The owner was glad he wasn't home at the time of the burglary.

"Yeah, every time I remember it I'm scared because of the dogs and my wife could be in, my kids can be in the house and fortunately nobody was here," said Edmar Faria. "Every time I see the video and remember, it's very emotional."

The pick-axe used was left in the backyard, but the thieves got away with expensive jewelry.
