MIAMI (WSVN) -- A local golfer left something valuable behind while hitting the links, but a crook was watching his every move.

Cameras were rolling at the Melreese Golf Course, off Northwest 37th Avenue, in Miami last Saturday as a crook teed off ... but not on the greens.

In a surveillance video you can see a man looking inside a bag. The guy then heads for his vehicle and drives off.

The victims, Jack Varela, said the man in the video swiped his nearly $10,000 Rolex. "Unfortunately, when I go on the range, it just bothers me a little bit. It's a pretty heavy watch. So, I take it off and throw it in the bag," said Varela.

In the video, you can see Varela grabbing a club from his bag. He had already placed the pricey watch in a zipper compartment. He then walks towards to the range.

Minutes later, a man approaches his golf cart and seemingly already knows where the Rolex is.

This leads Varela to believe he was being watched. "Apparently some guy was stalking me., went up to my bag, reached in, opened the zipper, took my watch, closed up the zipper and took off," said Varela.

In the video, you can take a closer look at the alleged thief from inside the shop. He certainly dresses the part, but employees say they had never seen him at the golf course, which likely explains why he only spent minutes on the property.

Varela said, his only hope now is that the guy is caught. "I want the guy caught. I really want the guy caught because he's probably going around to other golf courses and doing the same thing to other guys on courses."

If you have any information on this theft, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
