FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A strong smell led to the evacuation of a South Florida neighborhood.
The noxious smell of chlorine from a busted steel tank cleared out a neighborhood near Fort Lauderdale.
A resident dealing in scrap metal opened the tank near West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 31st Avenue, then realized that the abrasive chemical was still inside the container.
Hazmat crews were on the scene securing the leaky tank before allowing residents back in their homes.
