2 fans score BCS Championship tickets
MIAMI (WSVN) -- While Alabama and Notre Dame fans flock to South Florida, two fans received what they consider is a priceless gift.
"What size is it? What size is it?" Daniel Buckhannan asked his father.
"Medium I guess," answered Don Buckhannan as he took off the fedora and discovered two tickets.
"We're going to to the game, pop. We're going to the game!" yelled Daniel Buckhannan.
Don Buckhannan is in South Florida after becoming a YouTube sensation when his son recorded his reaction to receiving BCS Championship tickets and posted it on the web. "Oh my goodness! I hope these are good seats," he exclaimed.
His son, Daniel, surprised him for Christmas with tickets stuffed into a fedora like the one former Alabama Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant used to wear.
He's a season ticket holder but has never been to a bowl game. "I was just excited to give my dad a gift for Christmas," said Daniel Buckhannan.
Don Buckhannan is grateful for all his son went through to score the tickets. "I knew what a hard ticket it was to get to this game, it wasn't so much the ticket that got me emotional but when I saw it, I knew what Daniel had done for me," he said.
Then there's Notre Dame alum Dan Scaminace of Minneapolis, Minnesota. "I was paying my bill online, and I thought well, 'It's the Discover BCS National Championship, maybe I'll send them an e-mail,'" he said.
Scaminace earned himself a pair of tickets, airfare and hotel after promising to donate his cash back to charity, name his dog Discover and even possibly getting a tattoo, among other things. "I said I would cut up all my credit cards and I would transfer all my outstanding balances to Discover," he said. "I told them I would ensure that my family and children and my children's children only use Discover."
Two fans rooting for two teams, with one thing in common: love for the game.
