Sole survivor of Deerfield SUV crash dies

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The fourth victim of the Deerfield Beach car crash that killed three others passed away overnight at Broward Health North.
Sandalie Jean-Baptiste, 20, had survived the accident but died at midnight, Monday, after spending days in critical condition in the hospital. She had been on life support since Wednesday, when the accident happened.
Sandalie, her mom and two other teens were coming home from the Boca Town Center Mall on Wednesday night when they were involved in a three-car wreck on Interstate 95. The driver attempted to veer away but lost control and ended up in a canal, just off the highway. The car sunk and three out of the four passengers died at the scene. The deceased included 37-year-old Nadege Theodore, her 15-year-old daughter Lyn and 16-year-old nephew Guivens Daverman.
Blanche Ely High School in Pompano had a moment of silence Monday morning for the two teens involved in the accident. Both teenagers were sophomores at the high school.
At the scene of a vigil held Sunday night, Superintendent of Broward County Public Schools Robert Runcie, the principal of the school, family and friends, all gathered to remember the deceased.
The principal at Blanche Ely is personal friends with basketball star, Shaquille O'Neal, who has agreed to pay for the funeral of both the teenagers.
