Security guard accused of sex assault

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida teen is speaking out for the first time after, she says, a security guard at her school allegedly sexually assaulted her.

An 11th grade student at Homestead Senior High school said she was sexually assaulted by a hall monitor. "This man physically touched me. He sexually molested me, and no one is doing anything about it," said the victim.

The district is now investigating the case, but the victim's mother, Cynthia Bacetty, said officials took too long to investigate. "This has been an ordeal for me and my family because this has been going on with the same person since February of last year," said Bacetty.

For one year, Bacetty said the school employee has been making inappropriate comments towards her daughter, and said this week it got physical. "My daughter came into the school, and this man grabbed her breast, passed his hand over her entire chest," said Bacetty.

The district has removed the employee from the school and launched an investigation. "There will be consequences if the allegations are found to be substantiated up to and including termination," said Miami-Dade Public Schools spokesperson John Schuster.

Students are aware of the allegations but said the accusations seem out of character for the employee in question. "He says hello to students, and he's friendly to parents," said student Charlita Clark.

Parents are in shock to hear the news. "I'm very concerned. If I had a daughter in here, and you told me that now, I'd go in there and get her out," said parent Margarita Perez.

The victim said, coming forward has been very tough. "I don't even want to go to the school anymore because this has been going for so long, and now its all over the place, everyone knows," she said.

The school employee has not been arrested or charged.

According to the school, once they conclude their investigation, if found guilty, he could face termination and criminal charges.
