FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- The country's first openly gay marching band will play for President Barack Obama's second inaugural parade.

The Lesbian and Gay Band Association will be among the schools and military bands strutting down Pennsylvania Avenue, Monday morning.

Some participating members were hard at work and practiced in Fort Lauderdale.

The band made history in 2009 when it marched in Obama's first inauguration. The band was the first gay and lesbian group to do so.

Band members said the second time around is still just as significant. "The honor of marching in the presidential inaugural parade is incredible," said Michael Leigh. "I've marched with this group before to be with musicians like me. To represent our community is fantastic."
