FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida organization held its annual Martin Luther King breakfast.

The YMCA of Fort Lauderdale held its 8th annual Martin Luther King breakfast at the First Baptist Church on Friday.

Dr. King's son spoke at the event. "God, we've made incredible strides," said Martin Luther King III. "Some of us may not have even thought we could have come this far, but that doesn't mean we are there yet."

The YMCA said Dr. King is a symbol of what the organization stands for: fostering unity and equality in people of all faiths and backgrounds.
