MIAMI (WSVN) -- A man on a scooter in the "path of danger" in Miami.

Police say a maroon car slammed into a man riding his scooter, then fled the scene. The overnight hit-and-run happened at Northwest 16th Street and 22nd Avenue.

The victim was 30-year-old Luis Cruz. His wife Gema Acosta is begging for help finding the person responsible. "This is the father of two girls, a 13-year-old and 3-year-old. He's a hardworking man and nobody deserves to be left dead on the street like that. So we're asking for everybody's help to please call the police and if they know anything to please help us out with any information they might have," said Acosta.

Cruz was on his way home from work around 2 a.m. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed him to Jackson Memorial Hospital with severe injuries.

If you have any information on this hit-and-run, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
