LAUDERHILL, Fla. (WSVN) -- Loved ones of a South Florida man killed after a run-in with a tow truck demand change.

Lauderhill neighbors stood together as a community Sunday night to give support to a grieving family. "For him to have died this kind of death," said a Latoya Morakinyo, "it's like a nightmare. It's a nightmare. I can't believe he's dead."

Elias Konwufin's life was taken after a freak accident on Wednesday. "He cares not only for us his siblings," said Peter Konwufin. "He cares for everybody that comes across him."

According to Lauderhill Police, a tow truck driver was towing Elias's vehicle when he jumped on the side of the truck yelling at the driver. The driver lost sight of him and ran Elias over with his own car.

Sunday, friends and family held a vigil in his honor. "My heart goes out to his family," said Devin Stewart.

Neighbors were in complete shock over the loss of life and worry for his family. "He's very, very dedicated to his family," said Morakinyo, "his wife and his three kids. Every morning at 7:30 he would drive the kids out from inside of his garage to school. He was very committed."

"The neighbors, we saw what happened," said Konwufin's brother. "And now they are testifying on what they saw. So we are very happy."

The controversial accident was protested by some asking to bring clarity to the case and to keep this from happening to someone else. "To avoid future losses," said Morakinyo, "to make sure the community is safe."

Lauderhill Police are still investigating the cause of death.
