PORT EVERGLADES, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials have extinguished a fire at a power plant in Port Everglades.

Firefighters from the Broward Sheriffs Office responded to the blaze on 8100 Eisenhower Boulevard just north of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

A titanium pipe that pumps sea water through the system caught fire. Officials were afraid of the fire spreading, so they set up two hoses.

Hazmat crews pumped thousands of gallons of water for at least an hour to stop the fire. Officials also reported two small explosions.
