EVERGLADES, Fla. (WSVN) -- Florida's inaugural Python Challenge in the Everglades reached the halfway point, Tuesday.
Wildlife officials say 37 of the invasive snakes have been captured and killed so far in the event, which was organized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Experts say the reptiles pose a threat to the Everglades' ecosystem.
More than 1,000 people signed up for the hunt. The challenge ends Feb. 10.
