NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A mother has been charged with child neglect after one of her sons was found wandering the streets alone.

Twenty-eight-year-old Mathieu Anice faces charges of child neglect and will remain behind bars for some time after a judge denied her bond.

All five of her children, Angel, Angelo, Deonte, Christian and Eastian, appeared in court for a custody hearing on Wednesday. The children are now in the care of the Department of Children and families.

According to Miami Gardens Police, late Tuesday afternoon, a neighbor called 911 after spotting the little boy about two blocks away from his home, at Northwest 177th Terrace in Miami Gardens.

Police said Anice had no idea her 2-year-old child was missing. She the grandmother and potential father were inside the home watching a movie and never noticed he left.

DCF workers showed up at the home after the mother was arrested.

Reporter: "Is there anything at all you want to say about this?"

Mathieu: "No, it was a mistake."

Reporter: "How was it a mistake?"

Mathieu: "Cause it was [expletive]. Get out of my face."

Anice was arrested a year ago for child neglect.

All of the children have different fathers, according to officials. Today in court, two of the children's grandmothers both fought for custody. The judge denied them custody. "For right now, I am going to shelter all five children," said Judge Rosa Figarola.

Last year, Christian ended up with bone fractures. The court said they do not know who the twins' father is, and Angelo does not speak because she was shot as a baby.

Darrell Sessions, is the middle child's grandmother. She said, "I just want the children to be safe ... to come back home."

According to the judge, the children had complained about being hungry and that there was no milk or diapers in the home.

Another hearing is scheduled for Feb. 15. The judge said Anice will not have any contact with her children until the next court hearing.

Anice remains in the Miami-Dade County Jail.
