Suspicious item investigated near MIA

MIAMI (WSVN) -- The Miami-Dade bomb squad and police are investigating the discovery of a suspicious package at a garage near Miami International Airport.
Police ordered the evacuation of the Intermodal Center between Northwest 25th Street and 21st Street, along 39th Avenue, just before 4 p.m. Wednesday. They are investigating a suspicious item left inside a vehicle at a Car Rental Center inside the complex, located east of LeJuene Road. People are not being allowed into the center.
According to a spokesperson for Miami International Airport, they have bused about 500 passengers affected from the Sheraton hotel, located just southwest of the center, to the airport so they can make their flights.
The airport is asking travelers who are dropping off rental cars to go to the first floor of Terminal J to drop off their rental cars.
The Metrorail is stopping ahead of the station for the Intermodal Center and letting off riders. They are then being bussed ahead to their destination.
A command post has been established at 21st Street and 37th Avenue, as the investigation continues. The FBI has also been called to the scene.
