MIAMI (WSVN) -- A South Florida woman who nearly lost her life during a purse snatching has gone under the knife.
Doctors at Jackson Memorial Hospital installed a titanium plate to repair Evelin Matamoros' shattered jaw. Bullet fragments were left in her jaw and in her neck after she was shot.
Police said the victim was shot by Kamiah Lanier after he demanded and snatched her purse outside a Miami restaurant last week.
