Car slams into FHP cruiser

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials said a driver slammed into a Florida Highway patrol cruiser on Interstate 95, early Thursday morning.

Police said the trooper was parked on the side of the road, in a construction zone, with his emergency lights on when a woman, who had fallen asleep at the wheel, sped through the traffic cones and crashed into him.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries.

The woman behind the wheel was charged with careless driving.
