Man arrested for peeping into woman's home

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police said they caught a peeping Tom in the act.
Authorities arrested 18-year-old Luis Velasco peeping through a window as he tried to watch a woman taking a bath, Wednesday night. Broward County Circuit Judge John Hurley charged the alleged perpetrator with voyeurism and issued him a $500 bond, Thursday.
Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, a woman in the Davie neighborhood where the crime allegedly took place heard an unusual noise coming from the backyard. The witness said she went outside and saw Velasco peeking in her neighbor's window.
The woman added that Velasco had his pants down and was fondling himself. She called 911, and police arrived at the scene on Southwest 131st Avenue.
Officers confirmed they found Velasco peeping into the home of Jessica Ott and watching her take a bath. "My husband came into the bathroom and said, 'Get out of the bathtub, the police are here,' which I thought was a joke," Ott said. "I got dressed and came out, and [police officers] said some guy was staring at me," she continued.
Prior to the incident, Ott revealed that she had felt "safe" inside her residence. "I never locked my doors or closed my windows all the way," she said.
Ott has now pinned blankets over all her windows to prevent anyone else from looking inside her home.
