Maroone retires, unites with AutoNation

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- The Maroone name in the auto industry is officially retired, and it will now join the ranks of it's parent company, AutoNation.
The announcement came Friday morning from the President and CEO of AutoNation, Mike Jackson. South Florida dealership executives from Maroone attended the conference in Davie. "It's one of those unique opportunities in life when you love an industry the way we love auto retail to be able to build the first coast-to-coast brand and do it with great people and great assets," said COO of AutoNation Michael Maroone.
In addition to Maroone in South Florida, there are several dealerships across the country that will change names and carry the name AutoNation. Officials said the move has been in the works for years. AutoNation is looking to streamline their dealerships under the new name.
The famous jingle in those Maroone commercials will now have a bit of a change to it, but the song will still live on. Now, you can call AutoNation if you need a car, truck or van. "We're going to stick with the 'Who You Gonna Call?' theme," said Maroone. "It's one that really resonates with people. It's almost like social media before social media. Having your customers sing your praise, having people sing your praise, we'll carry that with us to AutoNation."
The new change will place over the next six months.
