Child dies after being struck by car

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WSVN) -- A child was struck and killed by a car in Homestead.

The car hit a 2-year-old little girl Saturday night near Campbell Drive and 18th Street.

Police said the car hit her after she strayed behind caretakers while crossing the street.

Crews airlifted her to Miami Children's Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

There are no pending charges against the caretakers or driver who stayed on the scene.
