Man arrested in missing persons case

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida missing persons case ended in chilling charges. A man was accused of murder months after his wife disappeared.

Fifty-four-year-old Jesus Maqueira is behind bars for the murder of his wife who has been missing for five months.

Maqueira was arrested and charged with first degree murder and aggravated stalking. According to police, 42-year-old Raquel Maria Calderin filed for divorce from Maqueira. Maqueira then went to Gloria Floyd Elementary School on Sept. 4 of last year where Calderin worked and the witnesses said the two were seen arguing. Soon after, she was never to be heard from again.

Police said Raquel left her job at around 9:30. She phoned home to say she was on her way but she never made it home.

She was last seen driving a black 2004 Expedition. An interview done by homicide investigators Friday, lead to the arrest of Maqueira.

Raquel's body has still not been found. We will continue to keep you updated on this story.
