FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A man accused of shooting another man during an argument appeared before a Broward County judge, Monday.

Twenty-three-year-old JaMichael Warner faces several charges including aggravated battery with a firearm and violation of probation.

Police said Warner shot a man Sunday morning during a heated argument along Northwest 34th Avenue and Broward Boulevard, then took off. As the suspect fled from the area, he fired a couple shots into the air, according to the police report.

Warner exchanged dialogue with Broward police officers as authorities surrounded his residence. After the alleged shooter resisted repeated efforts to apprehend him, officers shot him with a non-deadly riot gun. The suspect was struck a couple of times before surrendering to police at the scene.

The victim was taken to Broward Health Medical Center for a gunshot wound and is listed in stable condition.
