Camera system installed in So. Fla. school

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A South Florida school is taking security to a whole new level.
Hi-tech cameras were installed all over Merritt Island Christian School on Monday.
The surveillance system can be controlled by a portable tablet from anywhere on campus. It stores recordings to several places and even analyzes what is sees.
The cameras-- meant for the Department of Defense-- is designed to make it hard for anyone to get away with anything. "This system is a little bit unique because it was originally developed for a DOE application, and so we are installing this here kind of as a test bed to see how well we can make it work for this particular type of application," said Justin Thompson.
The system usually costs around $100,000. However, the school is getting it for free since they agreed to be a test program for other schools.
