Florida lands top spot for shark attacks in the US

COCOA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Florida took the top spot for shark attacks in the country.
The University of Florida's newest numbers revealed that more than half of shark attacks in the United States happen off the shores of the Sunshine State.
Still, many said the danger to swimmers and surfers is minimal. "They kinda get a little taste," said surfing instructor Terry Perez. "Once they get the taste, and they don't like it, they let go, so most of the time it's puncture wounds."
"Our job as a lifeguard is to get out and look at the water, survey it everyday," said a lifeguard.
UF's report also revealed there were only seven deaths worldwide from shark encounters last year.
