Ft. Laud. officers acquitted of misconduct charges

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Three Fort Lauderdale police officers were acquitted of criminal charges, Wednesday.
Broward Circuit Judge Cynthia Imperato cleared the law enforcers just one day after the jury deadlocked.
Detective Sergeant Michael Florenco and Detectives Matthew Moceri and Geoffrey Shaffer were charged with official misconduct and falsifying reports. They allegedly lied to investigators saying a burglary suspect crashed into their cruisers during a chase back in 2009.
The prosecutors, who contend that the officers rear-ended the suspect's vehicle, may re-try the case.
The department has no plans to get them back to work anytime soon.
