Miami-Dade detective stabbed by prisoner released from hospital

GRAPEVINE, TX. (WSVN) -- A Miami-Dade detective attacked by a criminal during a cross country trip is expected to be back home soon.
Detective Jaime Pardinas was released from a Texas hospital after getting stabbed in the neck and back by prisoner, Alberto Morales.
Pardinas' girlfriend spoke out from Texas, Monday morning. "He's just like a practical joker, he has a great laugh, and when we first could have a joke and then he started laughing, then I knew he was going to be OK," said Marinka Stuvel. "I love that laugh and it's important that I see that because that tells me that he's on the mend."
Pardinas and his partner were taking Morales to Nevada. Police said Morales stabbed Pardinas with a sharp piece from his eyeglasses.
Officers shot and killed Morales early Saturday morning in a wooded area near Dallas after a 4-day manhunt.
