Wasserman-Schultz, officials to discuss gun violence

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (WSVN) -- Gun control advocates and medical professionals are scheduled to meet with Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to discuss measures that could curb gun violence.
The round table discussion will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Pembroke Pines City Hall Lobby. Wasserman-Schultz plans talk about ways to move forward on sensible measures to curb gun violence and receive input from constituents.
During a meeting last month, Wasserman-Schultz held two round table discussions, one with local officials and law enforcement agencies, the other with gun owners, to discuss gun safety issues facing the nation.
Discussions included proposals for universal background checks, a ban on assault weapons, the need for school resource officers and more services for the mentally ill.
