Gunman takes off with cash, jewelry in Broward home invasion

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. (WSVN) -- A armed gunman allegedly forced his way into a South Florida apartment, Tuesday night.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the resident walked into his unit, located along Northwest 48th Avenue and 36th Street in Lauderdale Lakes. Just as the victim was locking the door, authorities said, a gunman forced his way inside.

The alleged robber took off with jewelry and cash. The victim was not hurt.

A nearby tenant reported the robbery to police, who continue to search for the thief.
