SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- One of three men accused of firing at authorities in Kendall Tuesday night faced a judge.

Brian Howell, 29, appeared in bond court Thursday morning.

Police believe Howell is one of three men who opened fire on detectives and then set the Kendall home on fire on Southwest 154th Court and 57th Terrace.

The son of the homeowners could not believe what he was seeing that night. His family rented out the house to the men accused of shooting at the officers. "It was pretty tragic, I mean, I couldn't believe it," said the son, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, "Just watching where I grew up, I could see from some of the pictures [on TV], I could see my room on fire."

Miami-Dade Police have confirmed another suspect, 50-year-old Dell Peter DiGiovanni, hanged himself from a nearby tree.

Officials continue to wait to see if a body found in the burned home is the third suspect, 27-year-old Michael Steven DiGiovanni.
