Police union files lawsuit over fired officer

MIAMI (WSVN) -- The Miami Fraternal Order of Police took legal action following an officer's termination, Friday.
The FOP filed a lawsuit against the City of Miami on behalf of former officer Reynaldo Goyos, in an attempt to get him re-hired. The lawsuit alleges that the review board behind the recommendation to dismiss the officer, met behind closed doors, a violation of the state's open government laws.
Goyos was fired last month for his involvement in the shooting of 28-year-old Travis McNeil. The department said Goyos shot and killed McNeil back in 2011 after he felt the driver might have been reaching for a weapon. Neither McNeil nor his passenger was armed.
