Shots fired as officers search for car thieves

HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for car thieves who fled after shots were fired in an attempt to stop the vehicle, Friday night.
According to Hialeah Police Detective Eddie Rodriguez, shots were fired as officers approached a stolen minivan. The occupants then took off and crashed around the corner at East Sixth Avenue and East 27th Street before abandoning the vehicle.
A perimeter was set up from East Seventh Avenue to East Fourth Avenue and from East 21st Street to East 27th Street as officials search for the thieves.
It is still unclear who fired the shots. No injuries have been reported.
