1 dead, 1 injured after shots were fired

HALLANDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- People in a Hallandale Beach home came under fire, trying to defend themselves from a robber.

One person was pronounced dead and another injured in the shooting, at around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Police said a man tried to rob a home near Northwest Fifth Avenue and Northwest Third Street.

Police identified the suspect as Frantzy Etienne.

Investigators said someone inside the home tried to shoot at Etienne in self-defense, but two people in the home got caught in the cross-fire.

One man died after he was shot in the chest.

A woman was shot in the arm but is expected to be OK.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
