MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The nationwide manhunt for a man whose actions left three people dead on the Las Vegas strip is expanding into the southeastern U.S. following the discovery of a South Florida connection on his rap sheet.

Twenty-six-year-old Ammar Harris was arrested Dec. 7 in Miami Beach, one in a series of incidents tying the suspect to southern states which also include Georgia and South Carolina. Harris is wanted for a triple homicide that claimed the lives of three people, including aspiring rapper Kenneth Wayne Cherry Jr., last Thursday morning.

Witnesses told police the Range Rover Harris was allegedly driving pulled up beside Cherry's white Maserati and the alleged shooter opened fire on the luxury sedan. "We believe there was an assailant vehicle, and that the Maserati was the victim's vehicle rather than an exchange of gunfire," said a Las Vegas police spokesperson.

Cherry's vehicle crashed with a taxicab, which resulted in the deaths of the taxi driver and his female passenger. According to police, Harris sped away from the scene and has not been seen since the shooting. "Clearly, the suspect in this shooting had no regard for the lives and safety of others," said another local policeman during a press conference.

About three months prior to the Vegas shooting, Harris was arrested in Miami Beach on one count of reckless driving. According to the police report, "[the] defendant was stuck in heavy vehicular traffic and began pushing on his vehicle horn continuously."

The report goes on to describe that Harris "then drove into the left southbound lane, crossing double yellow lines, accelerating to a high rate of speed, as he improperly passed all other traffic. There were vehicles in the right southbound lane and pedestrians crossing the street who were in danger of being struck by [the] defendant."

If you have any information on Harris' whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
