MIAMI (WSVN) -- The parents of Trayvon Martin shared their pain on the eve of the anniversary of their son's death.

Monday night, they spoke with CNN about what will surely be an emotional day. "We're going to attend a candlelight ceremony here in New York," said Sybrina Fulton. "We also did a benefit dinner to help our foundation, to make sure no other parents have to go through what we've gone through in the last year."

The Miami Gardens teen was gunned down while visiting his father in Sanford, Florida.

George Zimmerman claims he shot the unarmed, 17-year-old in self-defense.

The former neighborhood watchman is set to stand trial for second degree murder this June.
