1,000 drivers receive random act of kindness

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A Miami-Dade commissioner passed on some neighborly love to drivers.
Wednesday morning, Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz, along with the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, handed out free mini SunPass transponders.
The offer was extended to the first 1,000 drivers who passed through the Southwest 97th Avenue toll on State Road 836. "A lot of people are surprised when they go by here," said Diaz. "They don't know what you are giving them, but as soon as you say it's a free SunPass, and they don't have to go through this lane anymore, they have a really big smile on their face."
Five hundred of the transponders also came with a $10 credit.
This was all part of Diaz's 14 Days of Neighborly Love to inspire random acts of kindness.
