MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Several South Florida community leaders spent an the afternoon with some students to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Miami Beach Police Chief Ray Martinez is one of the many leaders who joined students at North Beach Elementary. They sat down to read a few Dr. Seuss classic books to celebrate the birth of the famous author.

The students shared their thoughts on which book or story in Dr. Seuss' body of work was their favorites. "'Happy Birthday To You' ... because when you read it, it's about like a boy when he celebrates his birthday, and when I read it, I feel like it's my birthday," said student Zach Djahed.

The day started out with a special breakfast of "Green Eggs and Ham" and ended with a presentation of song and music dedicated to the author.
