Good Samaritans donate items to daycare

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Members of a community lent a helping hand to a daycare center that was vandalized and torched.

A bag of donated goods was given to Little Leapers Day Care. It's been two weeks since they were forced out of their daycare. Backwards swastikas were spray painted on their walls and the inside of their school burned down. "I just saw that and it just really upset me a lot to see the name calling and spray painting on the walls," said Terri Wilson. "I wanted her to know that people care."

Terri isn't alone. Sandra Wilson received a letter from another Good Samaritan that read, "I was so disgusted to read about what happened to you," read Wilson. "I just had to help. God bless you," said the note. That person gave a donation of $200.

The Little Leapers Day Care moved to Small World Day Care in Victoria Park temporarily. Elaine Wilson is now sharing her space with Sandra Wilson. "Well my first thought was, 'This is a disaster, this is ridiculous and she's gonna be in a lot of trouble and she's going to need help,'" said Wilson.

Elaine knows exactly how they feel, she too had her place vandalized and was a victim of a hate crime. "They tore up my Israel flags," said Wilson, "and then her swastikas are backwards. It just shows how ignorant these people are."

"I'm not afraid," said Sandra Wilson. "I tell people I'm a soldier. I've got my war boots on."

Sandra Wilson also has her work boots on because she's rebuilding her daycare for her little ones.

At Small World Day Care the word of the week was 'terminated'. When Elaine Wilson asked her students to use it in a sentence, they told her it was like when their school burned down, it was terminated. The lesson turned out to be very real for the small children.
