Judge to remain on hit-and-run case

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A motion filed by the defense to have the judge removed from a high profile hit and run case has been denied.

Karlie Tomica's attorneys filed the motion on Monday due to statements Judge Migna Sanchez Llorens made during an evidentiary hearing.

They defense argued that 20-year-old Tomica was pre-judged prior to the trial, violating her right to a fair trial.

On Wednesday morning, however, the judge ruled they didn't file their motion in time.

Tomica is being charged with DUI manslaughter after police said she hit and killed the executive chef of Miami Beach's Shelbourne Hotel.
