Miami man used vampire site to lure teen for sex

MIAMI (AP) -- A Miami man who listed his occupation as "sinner" on a networking website called VampireFreaks.com lured a teenager to his apartment to have sex, just two months after pleading guilty to child porn charges.
The Miami Herald reported Friday that Nelson Carrizo, 30, is accused of having sex with the 16-year-old girl from Palm Beach County just before he was scheduled to surrender to authorities after agreeing to a plea deal on child porn charges in October.
The judge and lawyers agreed that Carizzo could turn himself in on Jan. 9. But shortly after he went to jail, police say a lurid tale of sex involving the teen began to emerge.
According to a search warrant filed in Miami-Dade circuit court, deputies in Palm Beach County found the teenager in a Palm Beach County gym, attempting to slash her wrists with her fingernails. She was committed to a hospital for a psychological evaluation and her parents told investigators they found explicit text messages and photos on her cell phone.
The Herald reported that the teen later told investigators she met Carizzo on the vampire website in June 2012 and in December he urged her to come to Miami to have sex. She said he knew she was 16.
Carizzo is awaiting trial on two new charges of sex with a minor. His plea deal in October included a sentence of 50 years that was mitigated to three years in prison followed by 10 years of probation. Prosecutors are urging the judge to increase the original sentence to 50 years.
