6-year-old boy struck by SUV

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- A 6-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was struck by an Sports Utility Vehicle while crossing the street with his grandfather, Friday night.

The collision took place around 7:30 p.m. at Northwest 125th St. and Second Ave. in North Miami. According to North Miami Police, a Good Samaritan administered CPR on the scene.

The child sustained trauma to his head. The Good Samaritan, who happened to be a nurse at Aventura Hospital, was able to render aid until fire rescue crews arrived. "The Good Samaritan who happens to be a nurse at Avenutra Hospital at the ICU, put together a paper mask so that he could administer CPR to the baby," said

The child was transported to JMH.

The driver of the SUV that hit the boy remained on the scene.
