Teacher accused of using racial slur suspended without pay

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A teacher is paying the price for her harsh words to a student.

The school board suspended Leslie Rainer for five days without pay and has required her to attend diversity training.

She allegedly yelled a racial slur at a Haitian student.

Officials say it happened last year at Blanche Ely High School, but an appeals process kept her in the classroom until now.
