SWAT arrest suspected burglar after stand-off

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- After an hours-long standoff, SWAT units finally took a subject into custody who ran into a stranger's home while fleeing from police.

A woman ran out safe, and authorities surrounded the home located at 133 SE 7th St., just before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies first spotted the man on the roof of a nearby home. When they approached to question him, he jumped off the roof and ran.

After a foot pursuit, he ran into the home occupied by a woman who ran out to safety.

Because deputies considered the subject armed and dangerous, they called SWAT, and after hours of negotiations, he finally surrendered and BSO took him into custody.

According to BSO, he was wanted in connection with smash-and-grab burglaries.
