$400 million renovation for Sun Life Stadium supported

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Miami Dolphins' executives are gaining support in their bid to use public money to help renovate Sun Life Stadium.
A senate appropriations committee signed off on the funding for the proposed $400 million upgrade, Thursday.
Dolphins CEO Mike Dee appeared before the committee and said the plan continues to garner support. "The economic development, the impact of what's on the line with respect to keeping this stadium competitive, the private investment that will go into this project to ensure it's a fair deal, is recognized and is growing," said Dee.
There are still a few more hurdles to clear in Tallahassee, and the referendum must survive a vote by Miami-Dade residents to increase the hotel bed tax to help fund the deal.
