Charges dropped against former principal and wife

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Child abuse charges were dropped against a former South Florida high school principal and his wife.
Darren and Serena Jones are now off the hook.
The decision came just days before jury selection was scheduled to begin in their trials.
Their attorneys credit prosecutors for seeing it as a case of discipline rather than abuse.
The two were fired from Hallandale High as principal and teacher back in 2011 after being accused of beating their 16-year-old daughter with an electrical cord.
Both are now petitioning to get their jobs back.
