Resident survives apartment fire

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A man was forced to escape from his apartment after it caught fire, Monday.

Flames gutted the resident's unit along West Sample Road and Northwest Third Avenue. He made it out without any injuries.

Authorities said the fire started in the kitchen and spread quickly. The blaze also caused minor smoke and water damage to three adjacent apartments.
