Fake dentist evicted from apartment

MIAMI (WSVN) -- The South Florida man accused of being a fake dentist has been evicted from his Little Havana apartment.

Cristino Ojedo Bravo, who faced a judge Wednesday morning, found a note on his apartment door. The notice reads that, since he is conducting illegal business with illicit equipment, including a blowtorch, he is being evicted, effective immediately. Bravo has one week to vacate the premises.

Bravo, 72, was charged with making and selling dental equipment without a license. Judge William Thomas set his bond at $5,000 and ordered him to stay away from any dental equipment

Officers on Tuesday found several dentistry devices inside Bravo's Miami home, located on the 1200 block of Southwest Sixth Street in Little Havana. Police said he has been practicing dentistry for over 50 years and does not have a license to do so.

Bravo told detectives that he offered his services to several laboratories for a fee of anywhere between $50 to $100. "The information we're getting from all over the county is that these dentists have possibly been purchasing equipment from this individual, billing insurance companies," said an investigator.

Authorities are still trying to determine the actual locations and whether Bravo actually performed dental services or merely provided his equipment. Investigators are urging anyone who has done business with Bravo to come forward and call the police.
