MIAMI (AP) -- Hundreds of past and present Miami Herald employees gathered at One Herald Place to say farewell to the newspaper's 50-year-old building.

The gathering took place Wednesday, a month before the newspaper moves to a new headquarters in nearby Doral. The current building will be demolished to make way for a luxury hotel and high-end condominiums.

Herald President and Publisher David Landsberg spoke of the newspaper's rich history, which includes 20 Pulitzer Prizes. He also said The Miami Herald is geared for the future. The new building will be fully adapted to the digital media age.
