SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have arrested a man and are still looking for another in connection with a burglary that resulted in the temporary lockdown of two schools Thursday afternoon. Those lockdowns have since been lifted.

South Miami Police set up a perimeter in the area of 6835 SW 63rd St. in South Miami and swarmed the area. As a result, both South Miami K-8 Center, at 6800 SW 60th St. and South Miami Middle, at 6750 S.W. 60th St., were placed on lockdown. Dismissal at the schooled would not happen until 4:30 p.m., an hour late, after the lockdowns were lifted.

Police K-9 units were deployed as well as a police helicopter. Police had the entire neighborhood blocked off as officers looked between houses and along canals in case the suspect tried to swim away.

Police continue to search for the second suspect. If you live in the area and notice anyone suspicious, call police.
