Mayors in Miami-Dade County will bike to work
MIAMI (AP) -- Six mayors in Miami-Dade County will leave their cars behind and bike to work for a day.
The mayors will help kick off "Bike305" Bike to Work Day on Friday morning. The group will encourage residents to do the same -- and commute by bike every day.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez will be joined by the mayors of the municipalities of Miami, Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay.
The ride begins at University Metrorail Station in Coral Gables.
A county statement says Bike305 is a collaborative effort to unite residents and places through the county's bike trails. The mayors are promoting the chance for residents to live a healthy lifestyle by cycling to parks, attractions, shops and events located on or near bike trails.
