Superintendent Carvalho gets contract renewed

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A proposed contract extension for Miami-Dade's superintendent is a done deal.

Alberto Carvalho signed a new contract that will keep him with the district through the 2020 school year.

Carvalho was awarded a more than $40,000 salary increase, bringing his annual salary to $318,000.

The superintendent said among his goals, is to dramatically improve compensation for district employees.
