3 suffer from separate dog attacks in one day
CUTLER BAY, Fla. (WSVN) -- Three separate dog attacks were reported across South Florida in one day, Friday.
Police said two pit bulls attacked Marta Loca as she worked on a fence in Cutler Bay.
The 56-year-old woman was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital Friday after her neighbor pulled the dogs off of her.
The victim's friend spoke to 7News about the latest on her condition on Saturday. "This morning, she had surgery on her head and on her leg," said Veronica Osgoot. "It compromised some tendons and muscles, but the good thing is that it will be a good outcome, hopefully. Her eyes haven't been compromised, but she'll need surgery as well."
Another victim of a different vicious attack was also airlifted to the hospital. This time it was a 4-year-old little girl in Southwest Miami-Dade.
Police said two dogs owned by her grandfather chased and attacked her after the rope holding them snapped.
Animal control took both dogs, as well as three others, in the house.
She's recovering at Miami Children's Hospital from lacerations to her head and arms.
The third dog bite happened in Miami Gardens. Police said a 130-pound American Bulldog attacked a 62-year-old woman.
The victim was also airlifted to JMH, in guarded condition.
The owner surrendered that dog to Animal Control, and it will be euthanized.
